Talent Referral Program
The Talent Referral Program is designed to encourage Stamford Hospital employees to refer qualified external candidates to fill open full-time, part-time and per diem allied health and nursing positions within the hospital. What better way to recruit talent than through the talented people we already have working at Stamford Hospital?
How the Program Works
External candidates can be referred for any open full-time, part-time or per diem position which requires a college or university degree, is in the field of nursing or allied health and is posted on the Hospital career website. If the referred candidate is hired by Stamford Hospital, the person making the referral will receive an award of $1,500 less applicable taxes (pro-rated for part-time). Your payment will be processed approximately 90 days after the new hire start date, providing both the referring employee and the new hire are still on the payroll.
How You Can Refer
Refer any qualified, external candidate as long as he/she meets the following criteria:
- Is personally known by the referring employee and has given personal consent to have his/her resume submitted. A "Talent Referral form" and resume will be required for all referral submittals.
- Is not a current employee of Stamford Hospital and has not been on the Health System payroll within the last twelve (12) months.
- Has not been referred from another source (i.e., recruitment or placement agency, school of nursing or student intern/extern) within the last twelve (12) months.
- Has not been working as a temporary and/or independent contractor within the last twelve (12) months.
- Has not already submitted a resume or been interviewed by Stamford Hospital within the past twelve (12) months.
Who Can Make Referrals
All active employees (staff and managers) currently on the Stamford Hospital payroll and all physicians are eligible to make referrals through the program and receive a cash award, with the following exceptions: Hiring Manager directly responsible for their open position and Human Resources professionals. While they can make referrals, they will not be eligible to receive the monetary award.
How to Refer a Candidate
To find out which positions are open, go to the Stamford Hospital website and search the Stamford Hospital job opportunity system using your desired criteria.
When you have identified a job for an eligible, external candidate, note the five (5) digit requisition number associated with the opening. Candidates can be referred in general to the hospital without reference to a specific open position. However, candidates will have a higher likelihood of consideration if they apply for a specific position. Obtain the resume and cover letter of the candidate.
Click here to refer a candidate, complete the Talent Referral Form, hit "browse" to attach the resume and then "send." If you need assistance with your on-line submittal, please contact Human Resources.
You must submit a candidate's resume, cover letter and Talent Referral Form each time there is an open position (a specific five digit requisition number) for which you think he/she is qualified.
What Happens Next
The Human Resource Partner will review the candidate's resume, cover letter and the Talent Referral Form and evaluate eligibility for employment consistent with Stamford Hospital policies and procedures. The Hospital will make all hiring decisions based on the candidate's qualifications independent of the referral through this program. The referring employee's participation ends with the submittal of the required documents and he/she should not attempt to influence the Hospital's hiring decision.
You will be contacted if the candidate you referred was offered and accepts a position with Stamford Hospital.
Your $1,500 referral award (pro-rated for part-time and per diem) will be processed approximately 90 days after the candidate begins employment and has satisfactorily passed the probationary period.
In the case of duplicate referrals for the same candidate, the first Talent Referral Form (with the resume and cover letter) in the system will be recognized.
