Interventional Radiology
Interventional radiology procedures are typically performed on an outpatient basis at the main Stamford Hospital campus, 30 Shelburne Road. Follow doctor's orders on how to prepare. Most procedures require 1-3 hours of recovery time at the hospital. If the patient is being sedated, a ride home will be needed.
Interventional Radiology is a specialized form of Radiology that involves highly-trained physicians combining sophisticated imaging tools (like CT scan) and small instruments (like catheters) to perform advanced, minimally-invasive procedures to diagnose and treat an ever-growing number of conditions.
Requiring only a few small incisions, interventional radiology procedures often eliminate the need for traditional surgery, resulting in less pain, less risk and a shorter recovery period. Most are performed on an outpatient basis, though occasionally an overnight hospital stay is needed.
Our Interventional Radiology physicians are highly trained in performing these specialized procedures, which combine the latest in computer-aided imaging technology with sophisticated medical training. Stamford Hospital's Interventional Radiology Department strives to provide excellent care with minimum discomfort. Stamford Hospital offers state-of-the-art care in diagnostic and therapeutic Interventional Radiological Services utilizing a Phillips Integris Fluoroscopy suite, GE CT scanning and Sonosite Ultrasound. All Stamford Hospital interventional radiologists are board certified, highly trained and leaders in the field.
